At Winter Firewood, we adhere strictly to the industry’s Ready to Burn regulations. This means that our logs boast a moisture content below 20%, achieved through kiln drying, which makes them burn more efficiently, helping the environment, and with less smoke.
The Ready to Burn fuel certification scheme makes it easy for you to identify the cleanest fuels suitable for burning at home. By opting for fuels labelled as Ready to Burn, you can be confident that you’re adhering to the Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) (England) Regulations 2020, which prohibit the sale of high-polluting fuels such as wet wood and house coal.
The Ready to Burn scheme is overseen by the Government’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), and managed by HETAS and Woodsure. HETAS and Woodsure, both non-profit organisations, are dedicated to promoting cleaner and safer choices in the utilisation of biomass and other solid fuels, as well as associated technologies and appliances.
“The Ready to Burn mark helps consumers to easily identify solid fuels that are legal to burn at home in compliance with the new Air Quality Regulations. Applying the Ready to Burn mark to solid fuels is a big step forward in helping people to make safer and cleaner choices when it comes to domestic burning.”
Bruce Allen, CEO of HETAS
